Josh  Davey has been ruled out of Scotland's World Twenty20 qualifying campaign. The Middlesex all-rounder was last night preparing to fly home from Dubai after missing yesterday's one-day defeat against UAE in Sharjah.

Davey, one of Scotland's most exciting young prospects, felt a recurrence of a knee injury during Wednesday's defeat against the same opposition. Saltires assistant coach Tony Judd revealed: "Josh had an operation during the close season but he has not fully recovered.

"He will be unable to play any part in our T20 campaign so it is best that he heads home for further treatment."

Scotland coach Pete Steindl said, "It is disappointing for Josh and the team that he has had to head back home. Simon Smith will join us tomorrow as a reserve wicketkeeper and we know he will add value to the squad".
