Another rain-affected day in Kuala Lumpur saw two out of three games completed of round four of the WCL Div. 6 today.

Jersey's star bowler Anthony Hawkins-Kaye helped to trigger a batting collapse of hosts Malaysia giving the side its first win of the tournament. Meanwhile at Kinrara, Kuwait managed to chase down a reduced target to secure another win, this time against Fiji.

At Selangor Turf Club, the lunchtime downpours forced Guernsey's game against Nigeria to be abandoned, just as Olajide Bejide was leading a batting revival from the side.

In order to complete all the fixtures in round 3, Jersey will replay Nigeria tomorrow at Bayeumas after the two sides were unable to complete its fixture on Tuesday. The earliest incomplete round, with the most incomplete matches, must be played first in regards to matches abandoned.

At Bayeumas, Jersey started the day on the wrong foot with the top order failing once again, Dean Morrison managed just 12 runs while Ed Farley managed just six runs while Ben Stevens departed for a duck. It was then up to Corey Bisson and Peter Gough to once again stabilise the Channel Island side's innings.

The duo put on 88 runs for the fourth wicket before Gough departed after being stumped by Shafiq Shariq. Bisson departed two runs later to Mohammad Nik Azril Arifin, the Malaysian a late replacement to the side for Shukri Abdul Rahim.

Poor running between the wickets and quick thinking by Shafiq saw both Sam de la Haye and Daniel Garton run out while the side made just 171 in its 50 overs. Despite heavy rain the side's returned to the field and Malaysia had a dismal start with Alex Cooke, Hawkins-Kaye and Stevens ripping through the top order.

The top five managed just 57 runs as the trio combined to wreak havoc with the hosts batting order. Hawkins-Kaye was by far the pick of the Channel Island bowlers with the 21-year-old claiming match figures of 4-22 in his 10 overs.

Despite a valiant effort by Suresh Navaratnam and Eszrafiq Azis the Malaysians could not cope with the bowling skills of fast bowler Hawkins-Kaye, medium-pacer Cooke and spinner Stevens. The trio shared the spoils of the wickets but allowed captain Gough to claim one scalp in the innings.

Man of the match, Hawkins-Kaye said: 'The pitch was helping fast bowling today and I was definitely getting it in the right places to take the wickets. It was definitely a tough game and Malaysia played really well and pushed us right up to the end.

'I think for us in the first innings, Malaysia bowled really well, the first 10 overs I think they may be bowled two or three bad balls and I feels that is something perhaps we should be learning to do for our next games.

'I have to say it does feel fantastic to score our first victory of the tournament, especially after two really close games that resulted in losses for us. Today's win really is fantastic, let's hope it keeps coming.'
