Scotland sealed their qualification for the 2012 Youth World Cup in Australia with a 40-run victory over Namibia in a rain affected contest at pitch number 2 at Bready on Saturday.

The game was reduced to 43 overs per side following early showers but the Scots got off to a superb start having won the toss and elected to bat. Ross McClean and Matthew Cross put on 83 for the first wicket before the former was dismissed for 35 but when Cross went in the next over for 33 Namibia were back in it.

It got even better for the bowling side shortly after when Peter Ross was caught and bowled by Wian van Vuuren first ball and Aman Bailwal fell cheaply too as the Scots slumped to 97 for 5. Freddie Coleman battled hard for his 30 while Anjan Luthra added a very valuable 26 towards the end as Scotland recovered to close their innings on 180 for 9. Stephen Baard claimed figures of 4 for 28 and Van Vuuren 3 for 22 in a spirited bowling display from the Namibians.

Where their opponents made a flying start, Namibia's reply floundered early on in the face of some accurate bowling and at 36 for 3 they looked in a deal of trouble. Worse still they had fallen behind the required rate but a resiliant 43 from Pelham Myburgh helped them fight back.

After he went however the complexion of the game changed and despite 28 from Pieter Groenewald and 22 from Gert Lotter the Namibians lost too many quick wickets in the chase for runs and were eventually dismissed for 140, just one ball short of 40 overs.

Ross McClean returned excellent figures of 3 for 12 with Bailwal claiming 2 for 13 and Sam Page 2 for 33 as the Scots can nowba look forward to their trip down under.
