Spin twins Kyle Smith and Ross McLean last night bowled Scotland to the brink of qualification for the Under 19 World Cup.
The pair claimed seven wickets between them as big-hitting USA were skittled out for just 124 in Eglinton.
Freddie Coleman and Peter Ross then shared an unbroken century partnership to propel Scotland joint top of the ten-team qualifying tournament after an easy eight-wicket win.
Craig Wright's side have now put their shock opening day defeat to Canada firmly behind them with four straight wins.
Two more from their four remaining matches should be enough to claim one of the six places on offer at next summer's global tournament in Australia.
Coach Wright declared: 'To be honest, I haven't looked at how close we are to qualifying.
'When we came here our objective was to win the tournament and that is still the case.
'The guys have done really well to recover from our defeat in the first game and they have had to scrap at times.
'Today was a more complete performance and our plans worked well but there is still more to come.'
The Scots went into the match wary of the destructive batting powers of USA opener Steven Taylor who had already scored two tournament tons.
Taylor looked menacing with four boundaries and a six in his 24 before Forfarshire's Aman Bailwal removed his middle stump.
At 102-3, the Americans were still well placed to post a big total until the Scotland spinners went to work.
West Lothian's Smith made the big breakthrough when he removed skipper Gregory Sewdial for a top-score of 31.
Smith struck again with his next delivery and went on to finish with 4-21 while Arbroath's McLean claimed three wickets for just nine runs as the Americans caved-in.
Scotland were wobbling on 13-2 when openers McLean and Matthew Cross went cheaply but Coleman and Ross guided them to victory.
Warwickshire star Coleman's unbeaten 60 included 26 runs from one over while the consistent Heriot's batsman Ross stroked six boundaries in his 39no.
After a rest day the Scots face Afghanistan at Strabane on Friday knowing victory will take them another big step towards reaching the World Cup.
