For the fourth game in a row the Ireland Under 19s were forced to battle into the last over yesterday. And for the third time they came out with a squeaky win.
The fancied Kenyans, who made 222-6, were pipped by an Irish side that never gives up.
Shane Getkate was the hero at Rathmines, scoring a brilliant 63 off 73 balls after coming to the wicket with the score 88-6.
'Graeme (McCarter)and I just pushed it around for ones and twos to start, before we started to hit the ball', he said afterwards.
'It was very satisfying to win from that position,' said the North County teenager who suffered a series of heart attacks while playing just last month.
'I was very relieved to get the all clear to play', he said last night, 'they say I have a 98% chance it won't happen again'.
McCarter claimed the man of the match award for his 3-33 and 53, made in a stand of 81 with Getkate. He fell with 18 to win, but Barry McCarthy (26*) kept his nerve to steer Ireland home with three balls to spare.
Kenya's Australian-born batsman Duncan Allan had earlier batted well to make 123, but Ireland's top order batsmen again floundered and changes are certain before the next game.
The tournament now moves to the north-west, where Ireland takes on Vanuatu in Coleraine on Wednesday where a win will keep them near the top of the ten-team table.
