A herculean effort from groundsman John Mountford and his team meant that the game between Croatia and Norway at Port Soif was the only game to get any play on the second morning of the ICC European Division One Twenty20.

And it was Croatia who were well on top when the match was finally abandoned, with Paul Vujnovich and Christopher Pivac putting on an unbroken 70 for the first wicket in nine overs, contributing 22 from 23 balls and 38 from 31 respectively.

Pivac looked particularly impressive, unleashing some textbook shots to the boundary for eight fours.

The rain did ease up occasionally, but not enough to allow a restart, and the game was abandoned at 1.20pm.
