Sweden made sure of their place in the ICC European Division Two Twenty20 Championship in commanding fashion at Velden on Friday afternoon, dismissing the Czech Republic for 65 in just 13.3 overs and knocking off the runs in 7.5 overs for the loss of two wickets.
Aman Zahid did the early damage for the Swedes with two wickets in a three-over spell, but it was Azam Khalil with three for 13 and Imran Amjad with four for 15 who ran through the Czech line-up and complete the job.
Siva Gnanatheeswaran top-scored with 12, and Hugo Banks was the only other Czech batsman to reach double figures.
The Swedish bowling has consistently been the most effective in this tournament, and it was backed up here with some excellent catching, Sunny Sharma taking three of them. The old saying about catches and the winning of matches has seldom been more clearly exemplified.
Sharma was himself the victim of a good catch by Brigham Smith when Sweden batted, but Bilal Zaigham and Sadat Sidiqi ensured that no collapse followed, and after Zaigham departed, bowled by Ben Soucek's first delivery, Sidiqi raised the tempo with 27 from 17 deliveries.
Sanaullah Habibzai belted 14 from five balls, and it was he who completed the win, and ensured Sweden's promotion, with a big six over backward point.
