Sweden showed that they are one of the favourites for the championship and promotion as they recorded a crushing 136 runs victory over Estonia who, earlier in tha day, had themselves won convincingly against Slovenia.

Batting first at Valburga, Sweden began scoring heavily from the very start of their innings and raced to a massive final total of 229. Although Estonia had made 236 in their 20 overs against Slovenia earlier in the day, there was never any question of them threatening the Swedish total against an aggressive and disciplined bowling attack. When their final wicket fell int he seventeenth over, they had reached just 93.

The Swedish opening pair of Bilal Zaigham and Sunny Sharma both made impressive half-centuries as they put together a stand of 124 from the first 12 overs. They were helped by a series of missed catches that should have been taken in the outfield. Zaigham's 70 from 49 balls included five fours and a six while his partner made 64 from 39 deliveries faced and hit six fours and two sixes. When Sharma fell to Murali Obili he was replaced by Sanaullah Habibzai who smashed four sixes in a whirlwind innings of 36 in just 13 balls. Number four Rahman also weighed in with a quick 24 at the end of the innings.

Estonia were soon in trouble as Serge Conein and Aman Zahid removed the Estonian openers. Tim Heath was not able to repeat his heriocs from the morning match, reaching 20 before he hit a full toss straight back to Mohammad. Wickets then fell steadily as Khalil worked his way through the middle order and the Estonian innings came to an end when Govind hit a catch to Sharma.

It was an impressive all round performance by the Swedes that will give them plenty of confidence for the matches ahead.
