Germany captain Asif Khan believes the return of all-rounder Rajiv Vohra is an important addition to the Germany side that will travel to Botswana for the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 7 event that begins on 1 May.

'Rajiv Vohra is returning to the side after a two - three year gap and he's an important all-rounder for us. Rajiv is a medium-pacer, middle-order batsman who is also extremely agile in the field so he's going to be important.

'That being said, new player Ashwin Prakash who is a off-spinner who bats a little will also be a new factor in our side for this event. While I'm particularly looking forward to Tawan Rawat at this event as he attended the ICC Europe Academy in La Manga, Portugal, I am also hoping that the proven good performances from Milan Fernando and Farooq Ahmed had at Division 8 in Kuwait continue.

'I think it will be interesting to see what happens with the spinners in Botswana as the artificial surfaces will mean they have to come up with a different way of bowling to take wickets - it will be a challenge but I'm look forward to seeing how the likes of Kashif Haider perform under the conditions,' said Asif off his players.

Despite the side coming into the tournament straight off Germany's winter - Asif believes that the team's preparation has been good and is well advanced ahead of the tournament beginning.

'Preparation of WCL Div. 7 began the moment we got back from Division 8 in Kuwait last year. We've used the winter season to do a lot of indoor training working mainly on our batting and fielding skills. In December and January there were specific indoor sessions across the regions to help players prepare for the event while in early April we got together as a full squad and trained indoors.

'As part of our final preparation, last weekend we played a couple of warm-up matches against the Danish ‘A' side which was good practice ahead of the tournament,' said the 35-year-old.

The side has some knowledge of the teams it will be facing at WCL Div. 7, with Asif admitting that he felt he knew more about the teams the side would be facing than he did in November when the team played in Kuwait.

'We've played Botswana in Jersey in 2008 and although we lost the game it was a fairly even contest. I'm sure their team will have changed a bit but overall I know them to be a good unit. Japan was also in that tournament but they were in a different group as were Nigeria. We've obviously played Norway before in the ICC Europe events and Kuwait in the last tournament - all we can do is give it our best shot,' concluded Asif.
