Abdur Bhuiyan took the second hat-trick of the day at the European Under 17B Championships in the Isle of Man as Italy bowled out Gibraltar for 52 at Cronkbourne.
Muhammad Adnan had already reduced the islanders to 27 for three by the time Bhuiyan was introduced as Italy’s sixth bowler and he struck with the fifth ball of his second over, trapping Jeremy Perez leg before. Next ball, he bowled Simon Dumas and with the first ball of his third over, he breached the defences of Dylan Casciaro to repeat Midhun Lal’s exploits earlier in the day for Switzerland.
Gibraltar had performed heroics with the ball, reducing Italy to 50 for six in the 18th over and when they lost their seventh wicket just four overs later, the run rate slowed dramatically with the Italians happy to bat out the overs. But thanks to top scorer Atikur Rahman’s 28, they reached 146 for nine in their 40 overs.
Italy’s bowling however, has been impressive throughout the week and that total was always likely to be too much for Gibraltar who meet Hellas on Tuesday with both still looking for their first win.
