Jersey brushed aside Denmark at The Lawn today as the Channel Islanders cruised to victory by eight wickets in only sixteen overs.

Following some serious weather in the morning, and a reduction of the match to 33 overs, Danish captain Christian Peck-Thorsted elected to bat. Only two of his batsmen reached double figures, however, as the Danish innings collapsed to 90 all out.

Jersey captain Ben Stevens led the way, picking up 4 for 12 with his orthodox left-arm spin, while Aidan McGuire claimed two wickets, including that of Peck-Thorsted (18 in 60 minutes), the only Danish batsman to offer serious resistance.

In reply, though Jersey may have lost Charles Perchard for 6 and, later, Dan McAviney for 27 the result was never in doubt. Aidan McGuire (17*) and Ben Stevens (38* from 28 balls) guided Jersey home, putting on an unbeaten 54 in fewer than seven overs.

Tomorrow, Jersey face a tougher but not insuperable test against the Netherlands, while Denmark will look to move forward against Scotland.
