Guernsey remain on course to win the ICC Europe WCL Division Two Championship after defeating France by six wickets at Port Soif.

They passed the French total of 189 with just seven balls to spare thanks to a solid batting display, with opener Blane Queripel top scoring with 57.

Queripel shared in stands of 46 for the opening wicket with Lee Savident (28), and 72 for the third wicket with Jeremy Frith (46). Queripel's knock came off 90 balls and contained six boundaries.

Guernsey skipper Stuart Le Prevost led his team over the finishing line with a typically positive 31 not out, which came off just 39 balls, and contained three boundaries.

Earlier France had overcome the loss of their star batsman Arun Ayyavoraju for 24, to be in a strong position at 119 for 1 with 21 overs remaining.

The dismissal of Ramesh Sithambaranathan for 51 proved a turning point - one of three victims for Jeremy Frith (3-30). He had shared in a second wicket stand of 78 with William Singh who made 45 from 68 balls.

For Guernsey, Gary Rich was also among the wickets (3-46), as France lost their last 7 wickets for 49 runs as they chased quick runs. Jamie Nussbaumer (2-26) is also worthy of a mention.

Guernsey's final game is on Monday when they face Norway at KGV.
