A superb batting display by the German top six set up a convincing 117 run win for Germany against Gibraltar at KGV. Having been inserted by Gibraltar, the opening partnership of Milan Fernando and James Eggleston soon had the the island side regretting their decision.

The pair added 101 in 18.4 overs, before both departed in successive deliveries, victims of Vickram Khatwani. Fernando struck five fours and a six in his 55 from 57 balls, while Egglestone made 35, also from 57 deliveries (4 fours).

There was no respite for Gibraltar as the runs continued to flow - Andre Leslie (40), Asif Khan (23), and Rishi Pillai (33) all scoring freely. Wicket-keeper Satya Srinivas made 51 from 56 balls (5 fours) as Germany racked up an impressive 271 all out. Julian Freyone came back well, taking three wickets in an over to finish with the impressive analysis of 4 for 35.

Gibraltar in reply were never really in the hunt, eventually being dismissed for 154 in 42.2 overs. Karan Aswani (39), and Kieron Ferrary (31) were the main contributors of note. For Germany Farooq Ahmed again starred with the ball, claiming 5 for 33, while Shakeel Hassan (3-22) also did well.

Gibraltar will look to kick-start their campaign when they are next in action at Port Soif against Norway on Friday.
