Shahzad receives reprimand for ICC Code of Conduct breach
Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad has received an official reprimand after breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during his side's five-wicket victory over the Netherlands in the ICC World Cricket League Division 1 in Rotterdam on Saturday.
Shahzad pleaded guilty to a Level 1 offence and accepted the proposed sanction from ICC match referee Adrian Griffith. He was found to have breached 2.1.8 of the code which relates to conduct “contrary to the spirit of the game”.
The incident took place in the eighth over of Afghanistan's innings when Shahzad, on a caught behind appeal by Adeel Raja, showed his upper arm indicating to umpire Norman Malcolm that the ball had not touched his bat.
The charge was brought by on-field umpires Ian Ramage of the Associates and Affiliates Panel of ICC Umpires and Norman Malcolm of the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires.
