Scotland have selected an exceptionally young and talented 'A' Team for this years' ICC Division 1 Championship tournament which, for for the first time, includes the A teams of Scotland, Ireland and the Netherlands.
They will compete in a round-robin competition against the national teams of Denmark, Italy and the hosts Jersey from Tuesday July 13.
The 'Scotland Lions' feature some of the country's best young players aspiring to compete at full international level. This year's side has ten players returning from last year's squad, with the other four from last year currently featuring in the full international team at the World Cricket League in the Netherlands
The average age of the side is again under 22, with every player bar one being a product of the Scottish youth system.
The squad in full is: Qasim Sheikh (Clydesdale, captain, age 25); Zeeshan Bashir (Clydesdale, 21); Tyler Buchan (Aberdeenshire, 26); Ewan Chalmers (Watsonians, 20); Stuart Chalmers (Watsonians, 27); Freddie Coleman (Penicuik and Warwickshire Academy, 18); Ali Evans (Carlton and Loughborough University MCCU, 21); Ryan Flannigan (Watsonians, 22); Ollie Hairs (Grange, 18); Moneeb Iqbal (West of Scotland, 24); Marc Petrie (Arbroath, 19); Willie Rowan (Greenock, 18); Jan Stander (Stoneywood-Dyce, 28); Sean Weeraratna (Heriot's, 24).
Head coach Andy Tennant said: "This competition gives our ambitious young players an excellent development opportunity and a chance to show us what they can do in a competitive tournament environment. We are very much looking forward to competing against the three national teams and the Dutch and Irish in what should be a highly competitive tournament."
