Ireland sealed a place in the final of the ICC World Cricket League Division 1 with a fourth successive victory and will now wait for the winner of the Afghanistan - Scotland match on Friday to know which side it will face when it defends its title on Saturday 10 July.

Chasing a small target of 155 runs in Amstelveen, Ireland overcame a minor hiccup when it slipped from 50-0 to 92-5 before Kevin O'Brien (43 not out) and John Mooney (44 not out) put on 63 runs for the unfinished sixth wicket to take their side home.

Ireland's opponents will be either Afghanistan or Scotland after both sides won their fourth round matches on Wednesday.

Ireland bowled and fielded well to restrict Canada to 154-9 after Ashish Bagai's side batting first after he won the toss. Sixteen-year-old Nitish Kumar was Canada's top scorer with 38 while Geoff Barnett (26) and Bagai (21) were the only other players to top 20.

For Ireland, O'Brien (2-21), left-arm spinner George Dockrell (2-22) and Andrew White (2-28) were the pick of a thoroughly disciplined display in the field.

In turn, Ireland was off to a flying start when it reached 50-0 in 10 overs before Andrew Balbirnie (17) and Paul Stirling (35) were separated. It was 19-year-old Parth Desai (3-35) who brought the North Americans right in the match with three quick wickets as the European side was reduced to 92-5.

However, O'Brien and Mooney came together, rode the storm and kept Ireland's unbeaten record in the tournament intact with a stand that spanned 16 overs.
