Invitation for Applications: Director of Cricket Delivery (DOCD)

Clontarf Cricket Club is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Director of Cricket Delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of cricket at our club and lead the development of players from grassrootsto senior levels.

Purpose of the Role
The Director of Cricket Delivery officer will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and overseeing a high-quality, player-centred comprehensive cricket curriculum for the entire club with strategic responsibility for youth cricket (e.g., ages 5-18). This role is key to creating clear, sustainable pathways for player progression into adult cricket.

Key Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Leadership & Scope
• Role Definition & Strategy: Act as an appointed professional expert responsible for implementing the club’s strategic initiatives as directed by club leadership.
• Advocacy & Alignment: Understand and advocate for the club's short, medium, and long-term strategic goals within the club, local community, and wider cricket region.
• Core Pillar Implementation: Lead strategic initiatives across the five core pillars: Coach the Coaches, Participation, Engagement, Development, and Competitiveness, ensuring alignment with the club’s ethos and values.

Programme Development & Implementation
• Curriculum Design: Develop and implement a comprehensive, integrated cricket curriculum for the entire club (beginners to adults), prioritizing skill development, enjoyment, cricket IQ, and match tactics.
• Delivery & Oversight: Remain hands-on with youth coaching while collaborating with, delegating to, and holding direct reports accountable for delivering the curriculum across youth, men's, and women's sections.
• Operating Model: Champion the 'Youth Operating Model' across the entire youth structure, including the selection policy, ensuring it becomes embedded in the club's culture.

Coach Management & Development
• Coaching Standards: Ensure a consistent, coordinated, and high-quality coaching experience across all age groups to facilitate player development.
• Management & Accountability: Manage the adult men’s and women’s head coaches, fostering a collaborative delivery team culture and holding all coaching staff accountable for their roles.

• Coach Education: Run regular coaching workshops for youth coaches and volunteers. Support and develop the club’s coaching strategy to empower parents and volunteers.
• Recruitment & Mentorship: Recruit, mentor, and manage youth coaches, facilitating continual internal and external training opportunities (e.g., through Cricket Leinster, Cricket Ireland, or the ECB).
• Resource Creation: Develop digital, video, or paper-based instruction manuals for different skill levels to ensure coaching consistency as players progress through the system.

Player Development & Pathways
• Holistic Approach: Oversee youth player development, focusing on technical skills, cricket IQ, personal growth, and fostering a love for the game.
• Culture & Environment: Strike a balance between participation, development, and competitiveness, cultivating an environment that values effort and learning over "winning at all costs".
• Structured Training: Design skill-based training sessions for committed members, facilitating additional player-led net sessions and providing necessary support.
• Player Pathways: Design a clear player pathway program for all abilities and guide players in developing resilience.
• Transition Management: Ensure adult coaches have the necessary information to manage and guide youth members transitioning into adult cricket.
• Learning Resources: Develop video recordings for each skill level to support player and parent understanding of development expectations.

Committee Collaboration & Reporting

The DOCD is accountable to the Cricket Committee.

• Reporting: Be accountable for the implementation of the direction and mandate determined by the Cricket Committee.
• Youth Committee Participation: Participate in the Youth Committee to align all activities with the club’s strategic objectives.

Programme Execution
Weekly Coaching: Lead age group practice sessions throughout the year (estimated twice weekly for each age group team).
Camps: Manage and lead holiday camps (Easter and Summer), ensuring engaging soft-ball and hard-ball sessions.
Engagement Programs:
o Oversee the Friday Night Cricket (FNC) Programme and U9/U11 internal games, ensuring active in-game coaching.
o Oversee and run coaching sessions in local schools to grow participation and recruit new members, fostering strong school relationships and developing KPIs.
• Match Oversight & Feedback: While attendance at all matches is not feasible, the DOCD is expected to develop a centralized feedback system so that lead managers can share continuous player performance data to inform and tailor future training sessions.

Essential Requirements and Qualifications
• Minimum ECB Level 2 Coaching Qualification or equivalent.
• Proven track record of delivering successful results when working with young cricketers (ages 5-18).
• Current and valid Enhanced DBS clearance (obtained through the ECB) or Garda vetting from Ireland.
• Valid First Aid and Safeguarding & Protecting Children certificates.
• Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
• A passion for youth development and a proactive, professional attitude.
• Ability to work to a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends during the season.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to engage with all stakeholders meaningfully and reasonably including youth members, coaches, adult volunteers and appointed leaders of the club.
• High level of IQ of ‘situational leadership’ with demonstrating soft skills to collaborate and build trust among all stakeholders including CCC appointed leaders.

Desirable
• Experience in playing or coaching cricket to a high or professional level.
• Experience in developing and implementing strategic coaching plans.

Remuneration
This is a multi-year project, we are open to candidates in a full-time capacity or summer contract residing locally or overseas. Regular performance reviews will be conducted, and the detailed nature of the review along with a probationary period will be discussed during the interview.

The total package will be discussed with the successful candidate and the Cricket Committee based on qualifications and experience.
