There was good news for Bready who gained a King's Award this week as part of the celebrations for King Charles' 76th birthday.

The Voluntary Service is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the United Kingdom and is recognition for the clubs work in Magheramason and beyond.

The club of course were a vital lifeline for the elderly in their community during the pandemic with the Cricketing Cooks providing a meals on wheels service and also a prescriptions service.

Bready have also achieved a few firsts in that they are the first cricket club in the country to get the award and also the first club from any sport in the local council area.

"We are humbled and honoured for our club to be recognised with such a prestigious award which is down to many volunteers who do so much at our club and the reason we have been awarded The King's Award for Voluntary Service," said Club Chairman Norman Allen..

"Its great for Cricket in the North West and also Northern Ireland and a big achievement for sport in the Derry and Strabane Council area."

Well done all.
