Both teams will have to try again on Sunday after persistent rain saw the first attempt abandoned.

Ardmore surprisingly opted to bat first and were soon in trouble at 31 for 3 with Graeme McCarter's eight-overs spell seeing the former Irish international claim 2 for 12.

Dharm Singh (43) added 44 for the fourth wicket with Mark Chambers (15) to give the Bleachgreen side a foothold in the contest.

However, the run out of Singh saw Ardmore slump from 96 for 4 to 109 for 8 in the 32nd over - three wickets for Subhan Shirzad (3-34) and an excellent spell from David Anthony (1-11 from 8).

The regulations have a completely new contest for both tomorrow, rather than a continuation which Ardmore will be delighted with - St Johnston less so.
