There was good news for Irish cricket fans on Sunday with Orla Prendergast being selected by Adelaide Strikers for the Women's Big Bash League.

The 22 year-old has made 80 international appearances for Ireland and earlier this month scored her first international century in the series win against Sri Lanka.

The Pembroke all-rounder will be hoping to emulate former Irish international Kim Garth who won the tournament while playing for the Sydney Sixers.

Adelaide are the defending champions and the 10th edition of the tournament will take place over five weeks between October 27th and December 1st.
