Ireland Women's squad announced for Sri Lanka T20I and ODI matches

Squads have been selected for the upcoming T20I and ODI matches between Ireland Women and Sri Lanka Women which will be taking place in both Belfast and in Dublin.

Two 14-player squads have been picked for the three ODIs and two T20Is, with results from the ODIs counting towards the ICC Women’s Championship. The series will be played between 11 August and 20 August.

Laura Delany will continue to captain the team across both formats. Christina Coulter-Reilly and Alice Tector have received their first call ups – Tector is the younger sister of Ireland Men’s international Harry Tector. Una Raymond-Hoey makes her return to the senior squad having played her last international in 2019.

“Every international series for us is really important because we know we want to see progression," said Head Coach Ed Joyce. It's always tricky looking at results, especially when playing against teams ranked much higher than us.

“Sri Lanka have really improved - we were obviously hoping to play them in the final in the [T20 World Cup] qualifiers, but didn't quite get there. You know, they've obviously got one of the world's best in captain Chamari Attapatu, but the rest of their players seem to be young and hungry and doing really well. So I think they're both two very tough series for us.”
