Action from Eglinton as the NW beat Leinster 2s by two wickets (CricketEurope)

Hosts the North West made it two wins from two as they edged out Leinster 2's in a tense match at Eglinton.

Batting first, the Dubliners were indebted to Sinead Thomson who top-scored with 29, including the shot of the day, a cover driven four that raced across the turf.

The NW fielding was razor sharp, effecting three run-outs, while there were two wickets apiece for Erin Mowbray, Mansi Bhavsar and Tori Mitchell, with the other for skipper Jodie Spence.

The hosts made a steady start with openers Amelia Guy and Jodie Spence, but 23 for 0 became 28 for 4 with Juliet Gargan (2-3) and Arisha Foysal (2-6) threatening a major collapse.

Emily Young and Tori Mitchell steadied the ship with a 26-run stand, but when they fell in quick succession the game was once again in the balance.

Leah Thompson (15*) and Connie Block (15 - 3 fours) added 34 for the 7th wicket to all but seal the win, although they did lose another two wickets before sealing the two wickets victory in the 35th over.
