DALZELL ON FORM AS BREADY REACH WOMEN’S FINAL
Rankin wasn’t the only centurion for Bready at the weekend. Irish international Alana Dalzell scored her maiden senior hundred to help them into the Women’s Cup final with a convincing win at Eglinton.
“It’s great to have got the win against Eglinton in the semi and make another final,” said Dalzell. “Although we have gone unbeaten so far this season, the girls know we can’t take anything for granted and need to go into each match with a fresh mindset. They definitely stepped up on Sunday and everyone played to a high standard. They are starting to mature in their cricket so it’s a great feeling as captain knowing I can rely on them all, and this showed with both bat and ball in the semi-final.
“We’ve got a great squad of players with a lot of potential for the future. With Millie Spence being away on Sunday for Irish U19 duties, Mansi Bhavsar stepped up and scored a valuable 49 runs. I really enjoyed batting alongside her and it helped me on my way to scoring my first 100 for Bready.
“We look forward to facing Fox Lodge in the final. In the past we have had some nail-biting games against them with a great atmosphere and hopefully there will be a big turnout again this year. We will also have our eyes set on winning the league as we hope to maintain our good form and defend our title.”
Kacey Laird’s five wickets helped Fox Lodge to victory at home to Strabane in the other semi-final. Eglinton is the venue for the final on Friday July 19th.
