LEVI TO THE RESCUE

It was like the Donemana of old on Saturday as they recovered from a precarious start to record an ultimately comfortable 166-run win at Glendermott. At 135 for 7, the Rectory side would have been eyeing up one of the great cup shocks of modern times.

However, Levi Dougherty was the hero of the day, as his counter-attacking century that included no fewer than 10 sixes got them out of jail.

“I was happy to get my first senior 100 and to help out the team whenever we are struggling but it only shows the strength of our team, who bat the whole way to 11,” said Dougherty.

The 21 year-old was delighted that Donemana were first out of the hat with a home draw against Eglinton, while Newbuildings and Brigade meet in the other half.

“We couldn’t have got a better draw for the semi-final, but as I’ve always said this season we will take on anybody anywhere given the form we are showing.

“At the start of the season our plan was to bring back silverware to the club and so far we’ve shown the fans and other clubs that we are back for silverware,” added the talented all-rounder.

Joint Premiership leaders Donemana are home to defending champions Ardmore, where victory would confirm their title credentials.
