It was a low scoring game at the Kensington Oval in Barbados as Nambia took on Oman, before Namibia triumphed in the Super Over.
Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and put Oman in to bat, with Ruben Trumeplmann promptly removed Kashyap Prajapati and Aqib Ilyas lbw from the first two balls of the game. Zeeshan Maqsood kept out the hat-trick ball, but Trumpelmann dismissed Naseem Khushi in his second over.
Maqsood contributed 22 before he was out, whilst Khalid Kail top scored with 34 before he became the first of three wickets for David Wiese, who finished with 3-28. Ruben Trumpelmann came back into the attack to remove Kaleemullah to finish with 4-21 as Oman were bowled out for 109.
It should have been an easy chase for Namibia's batting line-up, but they found runs hard to come by thanks to some tight Omani bowling, with Mehran Khan conceding only seven runs from his three overs, taking three wickets in the process, including that of top scorer Jan Frylinck for 45.
Two of those Mehran Khan wickets came in the final over of the Namibian run chase as he held his nerve with five needed to win, conceding just four with the tying run coming only when keeper Naseem Khushi didn't quite field the ball correctly allowing Wiese to scramble a bye and send the game to a Super Over.
Bilal Khan was chosen to bowl the Super Over, a surprising choice given Khan's economical spell, with Wiese hitting him for a four and a six from the first two balls. Two then a single followed, before Erasmus finished the over with two fours, taking the score to 21.
Wiese was chosen to bowl the Omani Super Over, and kept things tight. He bowled tightly to start with, bowling Naseem Khushi from the third delivery. The last ball was a full toss that Aqib Ilyas smashed for six but by then it was too late and Namibia won the Super Over by 11 runs.
Oman's next game will be a much tougher contest against Australia on Wednesday, whilst Namibia will next be in action on Thursday when they take on Scotland.
