There was sad news over the weekend with the death of Mary Gillespie.

NW President Connie McAllister paid tribute to the Strabane matriach, who was always a welcoming presence at the Park.

"Firstly, my condolences to her husband Paddy, sons John, Michael, Mark and Peter, as well as the wider family circle.

"Mary was a lovely woman, justifiably proud of her family who have contributed so much to Strabane and the North West over the years.

"Her spirit and strength were always evident, and her loss is a great one to the club and the wider community.

"May her gentle soul rest in peace."

Mary will be laid to rest on Monday morning at 10am in St. Mary's Church, Strabane.

This has been a tough few days for the region with the death too of Eglinton stalwart Robbie McCluskey following a recent illness.
