Before today, only two ODIs had ever been abandoned due to rain in the long history of matches in the format being played there.
With today's wash outs of UAE v Scotland and Afghanistan v Ireland, that figure now stands at four, though Scotland are no strangers to wash outs in the country. Both wash outs prior to today also involved Scotland - a game against Ireland in Dubai in 2015 and one in Sharjah against UAE in 2019.
Curiously, local media in the UAE is saying that the game has been postponed rather than abandoned. The ICC hasn't previously allowed the replaying of games abandoned due to the weather in this and equivalent competitions. Scotland are in the UAE until Thursday with a three match T20I series beginning on Monday.
