Scotland have beaten Namibia in a consolation play-off game at the ongoing Men's Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.

Unlike in previous tournaments, where every team was certian of having three more games after the group stage, teams that finished last in their group this time round were given just one more game, with Scotland playing Namibia after yesterday's USA v Afghanistan game.

Scotland captain Owen Gould won the toss at Willowmoore Park in Benoni and chose to bat first, with Scotland losing Adi Hegde and Alec Price early in their innings. Jamie Dunk and Gould then got the innings back on track with an 80 run partnership before Gould was out for 36.

Dunk then added 61 for the fourth wicket with Uzair Ahmad before Dunk fell for 76, with a rapid unbeaten 76 from 54 balls by Bahadar Esakhiel helping Scotland post 251-6 from their 50 overs.

Like the Scotland innings, Namibia's innings started with two quick wickets with Johannes de Villiers and Gerhard Janse van Rensburg both falling to Ibrahim Faisal. This was followed by Johannes Visagie and Zacheo van Vuuren putting on 115 for the third wicket before the former was dismissed for 69.

Van Vuuren added another 60 for the fourth wicket with Namibian captain Alexander Busing-Volschenk before the latter was out for 32. Van Vuuren continued on and, aided by Peter-Daniel Blignaut, got Namibia into a position where they needed 16 from the last over.

Ibrahim Faisal, who took the first two wickets, bowled the final over, starting with a dot before Blignaut ran a bye. Van Vuuren hit a four before Faisal coceded five wides from the fourth ball. He got his radar back with a dot ball, and then had van Vuuren caught for 86 from the penultimate delivery of the game.

Needing six from the final ball, incoming batter Jack Brassell could only manage two and Scotland had won by three runs to conclude their tournament on a high note.
