Emerging Ireland could only muster 62 in their second innings as they lost by a whopping innings and 134 runs against the West Indies Academy side in Antigua.

Resuming on 27 for 3 they lost skipper Stephen Doheny to the second ball of the day, and that set the tone for a pitiful batting display.

The Irish went down without a whimper in a performance that will do little to improve any of their chances of senior recongnition any good, given the presence of Head Coach Heinrich Malan.

They have a chance to atone for their meek effort on Saturday when the second and final four-day match gets underway.
