The Netherlands have recorded their second win of the ongoing Men's World Cup after beating Bangladesh today at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Batting first after Scott Edwards won the toss, the Dutch opening pair of Vikramjit Singh and Max O'Dowd were both removed cheaply early on. Wesley Barresi - playing for the first time in the tournament - then hit a run a ball 41 in a 59 run partnership with Colin Ackermann.
Barresi and Ackermann were both removed in successive overs before Edwards top scored with 68. Sybrand Engelbrecht contributed 35 whilst Logan van Beek scored an unbeaten 23 from 16 balls to help the Dutch post 229 from their 50 overs, the last wicket falling from the final delivery.
In reply, the Bangladesh batters were never really in the hunt, with only Mehidy Hasan Miraz making a contribution of note, scoring 35. Paul van Meekeren was the pick of the Dutch bowlers with 4-23 as Bangladesh were bowled out for 142, losing by 87 runs.
The Netherlands will next be in action on Friday when they take on Afghanistan. Bangladesh have less time before their next match; against Pakistan on Tuesday.
