Cara Murray took three wickets as Ireland Women clinched the three-match one-international series against Scotland with a 33 runs win in Desert Springs, Spain.
Defending a victory target of 240, Bready’s Alana Dalzell, on her return to the international team, took a wicket with her first ball but Scotland were on course at 153 for two. However, Murray broke the 91 runs third wicket partnership to finish with figures of three for 36 and Arlene Kelly wrapped up the tail, taking the last four wickets in 22 balls.
Leah Paul, Ireland’s most consistent batter in the series, top scored with 70 and shared a second wicket stand of 78 with Amy Hunter who hit five fours in her 37. Captain Laura Delany held the innings together with a run-a-ball 41 but after her dismissal Ireland still scored another vital 28 runs.
The teams play two T20Is tomorrow and Tuesday.
