The Netherlands World Cup campaign continued today with a second defeat, this time to New Zealand, fresh from their thumping win over England in the tournament's opening contest.

Dutch captain Scott Edwards - missing an injured Logan van Beek - won the toss and chose to bowl first. Whilst the Dutch did take more wickets than England did, New Zealand put together a sequence of useful partnerships to start their innings - 67 for the first wicket, 77 for the second, 41 for the third and 53 for the fourth.

Will Young's 70 was their top score, with contributions in the first 40 overs also coming from Rachin Ravindra (51) and Daryl Mitchell (53). The Dutch briefly slowed the run scoring with 3 wickets in four overs for 16 runs, but Tom Latham (53) and Mitchell Santner (36 from 17 balls) helped them post 322-7 from their 50 overs.

Despite a fine 69 from Colin Ackermann the Dutch were never really in the hunt in their reply and were bowled out for 223, losing by 99 runs. Mitchell Santner added to his quickfire 36 with 5-59 as was named player of the match.

The Dutch now have a long break before their next match a week tomorrow against South Africa. New Zealand next play on Friday against Bangladesh.
