Sam Gordon has joined Carrickfergus from Derriaghy on a two-year deal.

The top-order batsman moved to Queensway from Muckamore in the latter half of the 2022 season, helping them earn promotion to the top flight.

However, Derriaghy's relegation from the Premier League has seen him opt to move to Middle Road.

Gordon scored 532 runs at 24.18 for Derriaghy in 2023, with two fifties and a highest score of 94.

Carrickfergus captain CJ van der Walt welcomed the signing saying:

"We are very happy to get the signing of Sam over the line," he told CricketEurope.

"I think he will fit in pretty well with us. He is very keen to work and play a big role for us in the 2024 season. We wish him all the best abroad."

Gordon is playing in Australia over the winter so should be able to hit the ground running at Carrickfergus when the new season begins.
