Tim Murtagh has confirmed his retirement from cricket at the end of the current season.

The 42 year-old played 97 times for Ireland between 2012 and 2019, missing out on the 2015 World Cup through injury.

He took 142 wickets at just over 25, with his best-bowling display of 5 for 13 coming in Ireland's Test match against England at Lord's.

Murtagh was no mug with the bat, having a Test half-century to his name, as well as hitting the winning runs in victory over Scotland that clinched the World Cup qualifying series trophy.
