After a mammoth 18 matches, the East Africa T20 Cup tri-series concluded yesterday with Uganda emerging victorious for the second year in a row.
Tanzania and Rwanda were the other participating teams, though Ghana were originally scheduled to take part but withdrew shortly before the tournament. All matches were played at the Gahanga International Cricket Stadium in Kigali, the Rwandan capital.
Uganda's only slip up came when they lost to Tanzania by 3 wickets on the second day of the tri-series, a day on which Rwanda recorded their only win, beating Tanzania by 7 wickets. Tanzania finished the tournament with 6 wins and 6 losses.
Rwanda were next scheduled to play in a qualifier for the Africa Cricket Association Africa Cup later this month, with Uganda awaiting them in the finals that were scheduled to follow it immediately, but the tournaments have been postponed due to logisitical issues.
