The hosts never looked back after an opening stand of 96 between Kenny Carroll (59) and Dom Joyce (45) - playing on his home ground.

Another Merrion player, John Anderson made 30, while Ifty Hussain hit 18 to lay a solid paltform at 160 for 4.

Danny Barclay top-scored with 64 from just 43 balls (8 fours, 2 sixes), sharing a fifth wicket stand of 107 with Stephen Ogilby, who hit 7 boundaries in hiss unbeaten 55.

There were runs too for Shahid Iqbal (22) as Ireland posted an imposing 308 for 6 in their 40 overs.

Shahid was in the wickets too, as the Rush bowler claimed 4 for 32 as Wales were dismissed for 165 - James Breese top-scoring with 57.

Paul Ryan (2-33), Johnny Robinson (2-35) and Luke Clinton (1-11) were the wicket takers, while Dom Joyce also had a run out.
