Guernsey have recorded a 2-1 series win over the higher ranked Germany in a three-match men's T20I series over the last two days.

The series, played in Deventer, began on Monday with Germany winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. They bowled their opponents out for 98, with Oliver Nightingale's 35 the only contribution of note. Fayaz Khan was the pick of the German bowlers with 3-15. Germany had little trouble chasing down their target, winning by nine wickets in 11 overs, skipper Venkatraman Ganesan scoring an unbeaten 43 from 29 balls.

The second game took place later the same day with Germany this time choosing to bat first after winning the toss. They scored 164-5 from their 20 overs, with the main contributions coming from Faisal Mubashir (34) and Sahir Naqash (36).

Guernsey lost opener GH Smit early on in their chase, but knocks of 59 by Josh Butler and 56 not out by Matthew Stokes got them into position for a thrilling finish, with two needed from the last ball. Adam Martel scored the required runs to secure the five wicket win.

The deciding game took place yesterday, with Guernsey winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Josh Butler and GH Smit put on 152 for the first wicket, the first century partnership for Guernsey in T20I cricket. The partnership ended when Butler was out for 87 from 67 balls, whilst Smit fell for 56, one of three wickets in the final over as Ghulam Ahmadi finished with 4-39.

Germany got close in their reply, with Venkatraman Ganesan (34) and Muslim Yar (39) playing key roles. Their final total of 162-9 wasn't enough though and they lost by ten runs, securing a series win for Guernsey.
