MERRION completed a comfortable 105 run win over Pembroke in the final of the  Leinster Senior Women's Cup.

The Ballsbridge side racked up 165-2 off their 20 overs to leave a mountain for local rivals Pembroke to climb.

Cecilia Joyce (15) added 40 for the first wicket with Leah Paul before she was dismissed by Hannah Little. Paul (59no off 52 balls) and Kiwi pro Polly Inglis (60 off 43) paced their partnership well, putting on 120 before Inglis was selflessly run out in the last over.

Merrion made 108 in the last ten overs. Pembroke missed Orla Prendergast, their fifth bowler going for 51 and conceding 27 wides and 3 no balls in all.

Merrion’s impressive young seamers showed the way with Niamh McNulty demolishing the top order, taking 3-13 off her first three overs, and Sioba Bhoja 3-12.

The spinners turned on the heat and it was a slow procession as Pembroke folded for 60.

By contrast, the Minor final was a real thriller with Rush edging out Clontarf by just three runs.
