The NCU Premier League game between North Down and Civil Service North on Sunday was rained off after 36 overs, to the disappointment of the home side who had both Paul Stirling and Craig Young in the side – Stirling bowling seven overs and taking one for 24.

The only Premier League game completed at the weekend was  on Friday night when Cliftonville Academy moved closer to preserving their Premier League status, after winning a last-ball thriller against Woodvale.

Needing nine to win off the last over, Matthew McCord and Varun Chopra knocked off the runs with McCord, who had been hit for six by James Rose off the last ball of the Woodvale innings, scoring two off the final ball to win the match by six wickets.

Woodvale and Derriaghy are now 12 points adrift at the bottom with five games remaining.
