NCU T20 Finals day has been rearranged for next Sunday after the wet weekend ended any chance of play at The Lawn.
Waringstown were due to host CIYMS in the Cup final after Ballymena had met Muckamore in the Trophy decider but both games were called off after an 8.30am inspection.
The knock-on effect is that there is now a new date for the Challenge Cup semi-final between Waringstown and Civil Service North, postponed from Saturday, which had been rearranged for next Sunday but that will now be played this Saturday, by coincidence the day the teams were scheduled to meet in the first post-split game in the Premier League. The league game will be rearranged.
The other Challenge Cup semi-final between Carrickfergus and Lisburn will still go ahead next Sunday.
The weekend proved a total washout in the NCU and North West – in all five senior games were started but not one completed – and the Faughan Valley Cup final between Brigade and Killyclooney at the Bleachgreen was another casualty yesterday. That has been rearranged for next Monday, with a 5.30pm start – next Sunday being unavailable because it is the reserve day for the Senior Cup final between Brigade and Newbuildings which starts on Friday.
The weather was no better in Dublin over the weekend and the first of the three-game Women’s Championship series between Ireland and world champions Australia at Clontarf was also abandoned without a ball bowled.
The teams will try again on Tuesday, with the final game scheduled for Friday. All start at 10.45am.
