BREADY AND FOX LODGE UP FOR THE CUP

There are two familiar adversaries contesting the Women’s Cup final on Friday at Bready (5pm) with holders Fox Lodge taking on Bready. The two teams are evenly matched with the hosts proving themselves in the league, with the Ballymagorry side getting the better of them in the knock-out competition over the past few years – including Lucy Neely’s dramatic last ball six in 2022.

It promises to be a real thriller and we take a look at the two squads ahead of the blue-riband competition in the women’s calendar.

Alana Dalzell. Captain – All-rounder who has lead from the front, with bat and ball. The Irish international has done a great job nurturing her young side to the title.

Cody Wallace. Another all-rounder who has forged an excellent opening partnership with Alana, scoring vital runs. She is also an excellent fielder.

Charley Scott. Having a great season with bat and ball. A real character and had dynamic presence in the team. Seems to have been around for years but is still only 17 and has a bright future for many years to come.

Millie Spence. The 14-year old has made a serious impact this season, who can turn a game with bat or ball. She is a free scoring, hard hitting, batter who also bowls with real pace.

Sophie Hamilton. Another young teenager who helped her side secure their final berth taking three wickets in the semi-final and has contributed in the middle-order.

Mansi Bhavsar. Another of Bready’s crop of talented teenagers, who has the ability to turn a match with bat, ball or in the field, where her explosive energy makes her one of the region’s best fielders.

Kathryn Rough. She has scored valuable runs in the middle order and has a great pair of hands. Keeps all of the young guns on their toes.

Jodie Spence. The 13 year-old broke into the 1st XI this year and gets regular wickets each week coming on first change. A smiling assassin who has been one of Bready’s surprise packages as the new guard emerged.

Rachel Hepburn. A spin bowling all-rounder who can always be relied on. A wily performer who doesn’t take long to analyse opponents’ weaknesses.

Corinne Young. Another young gun who has broken into the senior rank in recent weeks. Corinne is a hard hitting bat and reliable bowler..

Amy Campbell. The wicket-keeper is a valued member of the team, with a great set of hands. She is certain to keep everyone on their toes from behind the stumps.

Sophie Killen. The all-rounder has recently returned back from University and can be relied on with bat or ball. She is also a Physio, making her an integral member of the club.

Sarah Black- opening batter, who has been a real leader with the bat for the last couple of seasons and is the team’s leading run scorer this campaign.

Hannah Mc Laughlin- wicket-keeping batter, who is another player who has been important in their cup run. Hannah has played a key role in the last five finals.

Lucy Neely - opening bowler and batter, who has been the leading all-rounder for the last couple of seasons, and is always reliable.

Emma Wasson-lower order batswoman and a good bowling option.

Mollie Devine-leg spinning all-rounder who is a pivotal player and will be one of the pivotal players if Fox Lodge are to prevail.

Ashleigh McGuinness- fielder and batter who has broken into the side and acquitted herself well.

Tanisha Hussain- A new signing for the club and what a great one it has proven to be. She is the leading wicket taker and also contributed crucial runs.

Helena Ballentine- A lower order batswoman and excellent fielder who never lets the team down.

Jamee McCauley- lower order batswoman and excellent fielder who has been a vital cog in the club’s success on and off the field.

Kara Bates- captain and another top bowler, who can always be relied on.

Lucy Blair- opening bowler and all-rounder who has taken early wickets consistently.
