Jersey have given themselves a boost ahead of the upcoming European qualifier for next year's Men's T20 World Cup by beating old rivals Guernsey in a T20I series, with all matches played at Farmers Cricket Club in Jersey.

The series got underway on Friday with the visitors batting first after winning the toss. Innings of 26 by Ben Fichet, 24 by Matthew Stokes, 28 by Tom Nightingale and an unbeaten 29 by Oliver Nightingale led to a total of 134-6.

An opening partnership of 106 between Harrison Carlyon and Charlie Brennan got Jersey most of the way to their target, with Carlyon the first wicket to fall having scored 48 from 34 ball. Julius Sumerauer and Asa Tribe fell in quick succession, but Jonty Jenner and Brennan stayed firm to secure the seven wicket win, Brennan finishing unbeaten on 67 from 46 balls.

Jersey won the toss in the first of two scheduled T20Is on Saturday, and asked Guernsey to bat first. Ben Fichet top scored with 37 with Matthew Stokes contributing 31 to their total of 151-9. Chuggy Perchard was the pick of the Jersey bowlers with 3-31.

Three of Jersey's top four fell cheaply in their reply and they were three down in the fifth over with the score on 38. Josh Lawrenson and Jonty Jenner added 42 for the fourth wicket before the former fell for 36. This brought Harrison Carlyon to the crease and he scored an unbeaten 41 from 30 deliveries as Jersey completed a four wicket win with an over to spare.

Unfortunately, Guernsey didn't get a chance to pick up a consolation win as heavy rain washed out the third and final match, leaving Jersey as 2-0 series winners.

Jersey's next matches will be in Scotland at the European qualifier for next year's Men's T20 World Cup, where they will take on Austria, Denmark, Germany, Ireland and Italy in addition to the hosts. The top two teams progress to the 20-team tournament in the West Indies & USA.
