It’s been a frustrating season for Strabane, who have mixed up some superb displays with heavy defeats.
The inconsistency was evident when a thumping T20 win at Ballyspallen was quickly followed by a crushing loss to St Johnston, which could be crucial in their hopes to secure a Premiership place for the 2024 campaign.
“Saturday past was a real wake up call for the lads at St Johnston,” said influential all-rounder Ryan Gallagher. “We have been competing in most games but we really have to get going this Saturday at home to Ardmore. It’s vital we get back to winning ways to keep the goal of the top eight alive. We have been inconsistent in all three aspects of the game but we know what we can do on our day and we need to make that day more regular.”
His younger brother Kevin and overseas professional Nasir Nawaz have been the stand-out performers with the bat, and Gallagher acknowledges he and his team-mates need to be contributing more to help out the duo.
“Kevin and Nasir are digging deep with the bat and it's great to see them scoring freely when they are in full flow. Now it's just up to the rest of us to back them up because that's where we have been lacking most - in the runs department, so the lads know what we have to do, and we go again Saturday.
“Before then we have a chance to get some form and reach a semi-final as we take on Newbuildings in what is essentially a de-facto shoot-out for a Faughan Valley place. It’s going to be tough but we have nothing to lose and will certainly give it our best shot."
