By the end of today's game between Scotland and Oman at Bulawayo Athletic Club, news would have filtered through that Ireland had already lost to Sri Lanka, thus securing both Scotland and Oman a Super Six place and making this game a defacto Super Six contest.

And whilst Scotland ran out winners in reaosnably straightforward fashion, some late order hitting from Oman will have had an impact on their net run rate for that Super Six stage.

Put into bat, Scotland lost Christopher McBride to a third ball duck early on, but Matthew Cross and Brandon McMullen quickly got things back on track with an 82 run partnership before Cross was out for 27. McMullen - who took five wickets against Ireland the other day - starred with the bat today, putting on 138 with Richie Berrington, who contributed 60 runs himself.

McMullen eventually made 136 before he was out, and Scotland eventually reached 320, losing their last wicket from the final ball of their innings. Bilal Khan bowled well for Oman, taking 5-55.

Oman were never really in the hunt in their reply, and were 120-6 after 32 overs. Shoaib Khan and Naseem Khushi then put on 105 for the seventh wicket as Khushi scored 69 from 53 balls. The partnership helped Oman bat out their overs and score 244-9, with Chris Greaves taking 5-53.

A 76 run win for Scotland is still a decent winning margin, but that late partnership helped narrow it considerably. If net run rate ends up being a factor, it could prove to be a costly partnership for Scotland.

Oman's group stage is now over and they will next play in the Super Six stage on Thursday against hosts Zimbabwe. Scotland still have a group match to come against Sri Lanka on Tuesday with the winners set to take the maximum four points through to the Super Six stage.
