Scotland recovered from a poor start with the bat for a second game in a row as they completed a comprehensive 111 run win over the UAE, with the latter now out of contention for the Super Six stage and therefore the Men's World Cup in India later this year.

UAE won the toss and - no suprise for anyone who has been following the tournament - chose to bowl first. It was a good start for the UAE too as opening bowlers Junaid Siddique and Ali Naseer took three wickets in the first nine overs to leave Scotland on the backfoot on 25-3.

After Tomas Mackintosh was caught by Zahoor Khan off his own bowling in the 15th over, Scotland were looking to be struggling on 48-4. His dismissal brought Michael Leask - hero against Ireland on Wednesday - to the crease and he and Scotland captain Richie Berrington proceeded to put on 67 for the fifth wicket before Leask was out for 41.

Another 51 were added with Chris Greaves, though Jack Jarvis only scored 2 to leave Scotland on 172-7 with 11.1 overs still to come. Enter Mark Watt and he and Berrington put their feet down and accelrated the scoring rate. They added another 110 runs in those 11.1 overs to take Scotland to 282 with Berrington run out from the last ball of the innings for 127, his highest ODI score.

In their reply the UAE mostly kept up with the required run rate but Scotland kept taking wickets at crucial points with only one partnership contributing over 30. Opener Muhammad Waseem was the top scorer for the UAE with 36, whils Safyaan Sharif was the pick of the Scottish bowlers with 4-20, including the last three wickets to fall as UAE were bowled out for 171.

UAE may be eliminated from World Cup contention, but they still have one more game to come in the group stage, against Ireland on Tuesday. Scotland are next in action on Sunday when they take on Oman in a match where the winners will secure progression to the Super Six stage.
