MCC ran out convincing winners at College Park thanks to 99 from Oliver Martyn-Hempell, plus a fine all-round display by Gavin Hoey who followed up his 66 with four wickets.
Martyn'Hempell's 99 saw MCC able to declare on 326 for 6, with Danny Hogan also getting a half century as well as Hoey.
Jack Tector made an unbeaten 42, while the wickets were taken by Theo Dempsey (4-55) plus one apiece for David Vincent and Darshit Shetty.
A depleted Irish Universities side were unable to make much of a fist of the chase - Michael Hogan's 49 the best of their 166 all out.
Hoey took 4-36 against his fellow students.
The focus now switches to the semi-finals of the cup, then the annual Fenner's tour next month.
