North West Warriors failed to take advantage of a weakened Leinster Lightning side and went down by three wickets in their inter-provincial Cup match at Bready yesterday.
On the eve of their departure for England, none of George Dockrell, Harry Tector, Andrew Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker travelled but after bowling out the Warriors for 183, that powerful batting quartet was not missed.
It was Merrion’s Australian professional Sam Harbinson who saw Lightning home with an undefeated 48 although Warriors coach Boyd Rankin can be pleased with his attack which included Ryan Macbeth as a late replacement for Conor Olphert who failed a fitness Test on a troublesome knee.
Macbeth picked up the wickets of Tim Tector and Gavin Hoey while Craig Young, another England-bound, got another 10 overs under his belt and the wicket Greg Ford, caught on the boundary by Ani Chore who gave up the gloves to Stephen Doheny.
