In a welcome move, Sri Lanka Cricket's Emerging team are currently touring Japan for a five match T20 series. The Japan Cricket Association hope the series will serve as useful preparation for the East-Asia Pacific qualifying final for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The tour began today with the tourists restricting Japan to 97-6 from their 20 overs and chasing down the target in 15.3 overs to win by five wickets.
The remaining matches will be on Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
It is only the second time a representative side from an ICC full member has toured Japan, the only other time being when a Pakistan A Women's side toured for a three match series against Japan.
