Derriaghy are back in the big time in 2023, and they are determined to stay there this time.

Curtis Moorhead is skipper at Queensway and he will be able to call upon the services of South African professional Patrick Kruger. The 28 year-old is a talented all-rounder who has performed well in domestic cricket there.

Sam Gordon and Jamie Magowan both joined late last year from Muckamore and settled in seamlessly to help their side gain promotion.

The club have high hopes for talented opener Matthew Halliday who has been training hard with the Emerging Knights over the winter.

"We are hoping to breathe some fresh air into that Premier League," Moorhead told CricketEurope. "With out traditional brand of cricket, a group of friends doing what they enjoy, playing cricket together at the weekend, then enjoying each others company afterwards.

"That being said, we don't intend to roll over or lay down for any team. We have prepared very well pre-season, with Marc Ellison as our senior coach, who has worked with us to get to the standard required for the Premier League.

"We are working hard to ensure we don't go down and are planning to stay in the Premier League for many years to come. I believe we have a good enough team to do it as long as we apply ourselves."

Derrighy begin their season on April 22nd with a trip to Stormont to face CSNI.
