Cavan County Cricket Club are looking for help to find a ground to play and promote cricket in the county.

They established the club in 2017, and since then have been in collaboration with Cavan Rugby Club.

"We used to rent their playing grounds to train and held matches," said the club on their Facebook page.

"Last year, the rugby club increased the rent to a price that we cannot afford. Now they are hesitant in renting their ground as a playing field for us.

"We have 45 active members in the club . Last year due to these ground issues we could not play any matches.

"We have tried looking for help from many resources like Cavan County Council, and the local rugby club,

"If anyone is interested and willing to help us overcome this obstacle, we would greatly appreciate it. Happy to pay the rent or happy to buy the land .

"We have approached most of the schools GAA clubs and Rugby in the area."

The club have been forced to train on the gravel-covered surface of a proposed Tesco site at Cock Hill in Cavan Town.

They have players from eight different countries at present, but are suffering from the lack of a home base which has meant it has become difficult to retain new players.

If anyone is able to help or are interested in joining Cavan, they can email countycavancricketclub@gmail.com or call +353(0)868513326.
